High Heat? High Energy Usage Day!  Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen not only record highs, but record energy usage!  Do your part to prevent overloading the electrical system, TURN OFF electronics when not in use!  This includes turning off your screens rather then letting them go to sleep, keeping your printer off until needed, and so on!  Do your part, and you can help prevent not only a higher electric bill, but prevent an overload from causing you to plunge into a blackout!

“Mac’s don’t get Viruses!” Well, this isn’t completely true, and hasn’t been for a while.  In the past, Mac’s were lower on the priority lists for virus programmers because they weren’t as popular as PC’s.  Mac’s currently enjoy a ~10% market share, and instances of Mac viruses and spyware are on the rise, so beware.

There are now anti-virus programs for your smartphone, so be aware where ever you surf!

Leaving your subject line blank in your outgoing emails isn’t just bad digital manners, it’s bad for you and the receiver!  Blank subject lines cause spam filters to look much harder at your message, and the filter may flag your message as spam!
This is also bad for the receiver, because it makes your message almost impossible to search for and reference in the future.

So take the extra few seconds, and fill in that subject line!

Why pay for anti-virus when there are free ones? Well, the phrase “You get what you pay for” comes to mind, and it’s true.  Free anti-virus programs are better then no protection, but wont protect you as well as a trusted paid anti-virus program, such as our currently recommended Norton Anti-virus.

“You gotta see this video” From your friend. Do you click on that email, or not?  Most of the time you should not click on links even if you know the sender, even on Facebook! Nothing against your friend, but ya gotta keep your pc safe and clean.  “Won’t my anti-virus fix it?”  Not all the time! Anti-virus programs are there for your protection, but you still have to be careful, and be aware of what you are clicking on.

There is always a balance needed between having the latest and greatest, and having something that isn’t full of bugs and issues!

While it is true, you need to stay on top of your technology, you don’t need to keep up with “The Joneses.”  Sometimes that great new device that just came out looks cool, but has a few bugs.  We all remember what happened when people jumped on the Vista Bandwagon (I admit, we did too, But in our defense, we uninstalled it from all company PC’s within a week and went back to XP!).  Along the same lines, some clients are scared of Windows 7, when it is a very stable and usable version of windows, that most people love!

Here at Digital Domains, we love new technology as much as you do, but we love new technology that works even better!
